Description
Capture the atmosphere and thrill of a live concert in a single picture? It's possible! With the patient technique of hand drawing, Christoph Heuer succeeds in depicting guitar riffs, blast beats and the swinging of the vocals and capturing unforgettable moments. The sketchbook features musicians from well-known bands such as Sepultura, The Haunted, Hatebreed, Saltatio Mortis, Flotsam and Jetsam, Devildriver, Prong and, last but not least, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top. There are also impressive drawings of major festivals such as Duisburg's Rage against racism, the Nord Open Air in Essen and the well-known "festival of festivals" in Wacken.

Welcome and interview
Prof. Dr. Matthias Johannes Bauer, Professor of Communication Management. The "Festivalprof" researches and teaches festival management at the IST University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. Fascinated by Heuer's work, he brought the artist together with the publisher Dr. Aurelio Fichter. The result is this book, for which Bauer has written a foreword.
The book launch will take place as part of an interview with the illustrator Christoph Heuer. This will be followed by live music from Duisburg songwriter Kaneshka Musleh, who will play reminiscences of well-known metal hits. Limited edition and signed art prints of the artist's work will also be presented.
About the illustrator:
Born in Essen in 1962, Christoph Heuer began his professional career as a draughtsman and later studied civil engineering. After a change of subject, he studied communication design at the Folkwang University of the Arts until 2002. Today he works as an artist and designer and produces music videos.
Back in the early 1980s, Christoph Heuer worked as a reporter for the heavy metal magazine "Desaster", producing concert reports and photographs. Later, he also earned some extra money as a stage hand. His good command of English helped him to make good contacts in the scene. In the mid-1980s, he toured Europe with the British band Motörhead. Christoph Heuer had a long friendship with frontman 'Lemmy' Kilmister, who died in 2015. However, health problems and a heart operation forced him to end these activities in 1985. He said goodbye to the music business for a long time and did not attend any more private concerts until 1991. A friend finally inspired him to attend music events again and to draw there. Since then, Christoph Heuer can regularly be found in front of or even on stage, drawing musicians and audiences. He succeeds in capturing the energy and atmosphere of the concerts in an intense, if not intimate, way that a photograph could hardly do.
He makes his drawings almost exclusively for himself and collects them in his sketchbooks. They are published for the first time in this book.
